How do I winterize my lawn mower?
We offer a few tips for preparing your mower for the off–season.
Now that you’ve parked your lawn mower for the winter, what should you do?
- Drain the gasoline from the tank. Try using a turkey baster to get all that gas out. Once a year replace the oil. (Frequently check and maintain proper levels throughout the season.) Replace the airfilter. (Filter should be cleaned frequently during the mowing season.) Spray the cylinder with a little oil (WD40) to keep moisture out. Sharpen the blade.
- If you have small children consider disconnecting the spark plug wire to prevent inadvertent start-ups.
You follow these same guidelines when storing your gas powered blowers and string trimmers.
